Talysis II is the first in a series of artworks exploring the process of video feedback to create auto-catalytic self-generating artworks. Orginally comissioned for Art.fical 3.0, São Paulo, 2006

Mimicking the classic analogue video feedback process, this software simulation creates complexity from an economy of means. A simple shape is passed around a circuit of renderers. Transformations of the shape are applied to its conveyance around the loop resulting in a multitude of feedback species, geometric tessellated formations, that transform and reconfigure over time.

The strict symmetries, quasi-hyperbolic surfaces and parabolic forms generated from this machine monologue allude to the works from Perceptual and Op-Artist movements of the 60’s.

Exhibited at:

Art.ficial Emotion 3.0, São Paulo, 2006.
Playgrounds AV Festival, Tilburg, 2007
Zero to Infinity, London, 2008
Bridges, Budapest, 2009
Optofonica Museums Night, Amsterdam, 2010

Aesthetics of failure. Disruption of dimension, magnitude and quantity in the timeless gap. Delicacy of destruction. In a void that serves a nonconventional level of perception.

This is the Spatium as a detachment of an interval in a moment of glitch. Superposing architecture with a malfunctioning device to be surrounded with. Spatium defines the possibilities what these spaces can transform into for the audience that is given the opportunity to experience.

Performed at Taşkışla Festival 17 in 13th May 2011.
The work is a result of the one-week workshop ran by Refik Anadol with the students of the Architecture Faculty of Istanbul Technical University.

Sometimes it seems as if I were looking at myself from the outside. As if the imaginary camera eye moved away from first person view to third person view. I think it is an error in perception. Brain creates reality in itself after all and senses are only reference points for its creation. But I know what a feeling it is. It is as to look at the whole chaos of life from from above and to feel the line around which new events spring up. It is a united line which is the median of everything that happens.

In my work I'm looking for a composition in visual and audio chaos which which is unified by one line. I am accepting chaos and falling into it while still trying to have control over what I am doing. It is as lucid dreaming - lucid or dreaming awake is dreaming while being aware of dreaming. Operating the installation is like searching for the house in which I am - I will never find it but I can feel it.

The interface works through kinect - a device for the game console xbox 360, and the visual coding software vvvv. The piece can be comprehended as a musical instrument which is an innovative combination of object control and work with the body. This is the first version that will evolve into a more complex performance.

The work originated from the impulse at kinect workshop in progressbar and it was displayed as an output of this workshop at the festival Multiplace 2011 in Bratislava. The pieces at the festival work as remakes and my installation works with the folloiwing: "Wojciech Bruszewski - The Music of BEhaviours" a "David Rokeby (1982) - Very Nervous System (1986-1990)"

"Á Bao A Qu"
6-channels electroacoustic music with live video
2011

Third piece from a larger project (work in progress) about animals described in the "Book of imaginary beings" by Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges.
"Á Bao A Qu" sleeps near the first steps of the staircase in the Tower of Victory, in Chitor. When someone enters the tower and starts to climb up the stairs, this sensitive creature sticks to the visitor's heels, gaining shape and light, and comes to full essence only if the person manages to reach the top of the tower...

This is a stereo version of the original 6-channel electroacoustic piece.

Built in vvvv ( vvvv.org ) and Max/MSP ( cycling74.com ) connected via OSC.

Not my best mapping perhaps..
But I set up it in a couple of hours, recycling a couple of old patches and writing some on the fly. All made in vvvv
