When the Vienna Tourism Board promotes its city as a travel destination in foreign countries, they always put a spin on their presentation. Hoping to achieve a certain broadcast and social media buzz, they asked Strukt via Jung von Matt/Donau to realize an interactive dancefloor. The visitors in a shopping mall should get a chance to learn how to dance the Viennese Waltz, so that they are prepared when they decide to travel to Vienna. Because you never know, when a charming Viennese person asks you for a dance.

Using an LED floor (deliviered by a local partner in Barcelona) and cutting edge tracking technology provided by this.play out of Vienna, Strukt created two self explanatory game modes. First people were able to learn the waltz in a training session step by step. Once they completed the training session, they then were invited to enter the score mode – “Waltz Hero”. The goal was to dance along a predefined path in the right speed to achieve the maximum score. There were three levels of excellence a couple could achieve – being a debutant, an advanced dancer or a true Waltz Hero. People were invited to post pictures and videos of the promotion online to get a chance to win a trip to Vienna.

This is the official documentation video of
NODE10 - Forum for Digital Arts, November 2010, Frankfurt, Germany
http://node.vvvv.org

The purpose of NODE is to facilitate the exchange between art, design and engineering in interactive and generative media. The 'NODE - Forum for Digital Arts' emerged in 2008 from an initiative of developers and users of the graphical programming language vvvv (http://vvvv.org).

At first, NODE was meant to support the community of people using vvvv to create artistic and creative software projects, but it quickly changed into an international forum for knowledge exchange between designers, artists and engineers of various fields believing in the powers of programming and digital technologies.

The second edition was held in November 2010 in cooperation with the Frankfurter Kunstverein (www.fkv.de). Through the exhibition and lecture panel 'abstrakt Abstrakt - the systematized world' (curated by Marius Watz & Eno Henze) we seeked to analyze the nature and effect of abstraction systems.

With an unbelievable longlist of vvvv workshops we made heads spinning and with the performances we created astonishment. NODE10 was a week long highly creative rush of discussions, theoretical and practical lectures, workshops, presentations and events.

Thanks everybody who made this week in November 2010 such a good time.

Bloc 2011 saw our most advanced configuration of our modular Square Screen System. The installation gave a modern twist to 1850s Bristol Byzantine architectural style with this arching digital stained-glass window that appeared to go beyond the stage floor.

Content was audio reactive with video and generative content mixed together to give a endless combination of effects. 5 projectors were used here to create the effect of 480 small LCD displays. Each projector only required 4 calibration points to adjust in the software and all the squares were automatically mapping.

The visuals ran all weekend and the stage saw the likes of MalDMZ, Pinch, Shackleton, Loefah, and many more.

x=x (v.2011)

Using as the title a Ludwig Wittgenstein formula, this composition deals with references, meanings and similarities. Is there something that is completely identical to another? How far you can make copies without changing the original? Do the copies themselves change the meaning of the original? Questioning tautological concepts, the performance aims to show in sound and image, this relationship. The work is performed using video-mapping techniques, creating illusions of three-dimensional depth to the viewer. On two symmetrical screens, shapes and objects are opposed, seeking to analyze, through images and sounds, the relations of equality, reality, their significant and meaning.

The composition is divided into five parts, each one dealing with a theme in some way related to the work title. In the first part, the images speak of identity. Something or someone can be exactly like another? what characterizes the identity? Why do people constantly seek an identification with a group, trying to fit into labels that would ensure an identity "itself." The second part deals with the relationship between signifier and signified. Testing the limits of language, a poem is spoken beginning with phrases that have meanings and logic and, over time, deconstructions in the syntax and the creation of neologisms lead to a search for the ineffable, the whole that is beyond language. The next part subject is the illusion of the senses. Optical illusions suggest that what we see is not always the truth, if it really exists. In the fourth part, are treated opposites (x equal to not x). With minimal use of colors, graphics will fight for a space on the screen. The final part is about the limit of use of the words. There are no words sufficient to noun everything that exists, so gaps are formed. In an attempt to create a utopian spectrum that could name everything, words and phrases are broken down, leaving its original form and seek to belong to a continuous thread that connects all that exists.

x=x (v.2011)

As próprias cópias alteram o sentido do original?
