Alpha setup showing red square

Heyhey

on a fresh install of windows 10 x64, in the current Alpha build, setup.exe says Visual C++ runtime 2015 is missing. Trying to install it I get the error ‘another version of this product is already installed’. Also, both vvvv and VL are running fine.

do you have vs2015 installed on that machine? if so which version?
for me help/about says 14.0.25123.00 Update2

ah and when you go to add/remove programs…where it lists all the software installed it also lists those redists. which version do you see there? for me it is 14.0.24212 (which is also what setup.exe checks for and installs)

In VS, Help/about/Copy Info:

Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015
Version 14.0.25431.01 Update 3
Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 4.6.01055

Installed Version: Community

(…)

Visual C# 2015 00322-20000-00000-AA169
Microsoft Visual C# 2015

Visual C++ 2015 00322-20000-00000-AA169
Microsoft Visual C++ 2015

(…)

Programs and Features says

Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64) - 14.0.24215
Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86) - 14.0.24215

and

Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015 with Updates

I installed Visual Studio directly with all updates included.

ouright, so this will happen everytime ms does another update. but also, as you said, most likely everything still works with even a later version of the redist.

still we’ll try to keep setup.exe always checking for the latest version. will close this post when it is updated to 14.0.24215.

latest alpha setup now checks for redist 14.0.24215.
