GENERAL CONFIGURATION NOTES BEFORE YOU BEGIN, CONFIGURE YOUR V4 !!! Receiving MIDI channel on V4 should be set to 1 (MENU MIDI SETUP MIDI Rx CHANNEL). This setting should not be changed, because software allways sends V4 commands on MIDI channel 1. V-LINK should be off (MENU MIDI SETUP V-LINK). Note Mode should be off (MENU MIDI SETUP NOTE MODE). You can get this type of functionality from the software itself. Setting this to ON might clash with the settings made in software. V-4 Mode should be set to “Normal Mode” (MODE UTILITY V-4 MODE). MIDI assignments in V-4 (MENU MIDI SETUP) should be following Effects-A1 Assign - cc 1 (cc stands for MIDI continuous controller) Effects-A2 Assign - cc 2 Effects-A3 Assign - cc 3 Effects-A4 Assign - cc 4 Effects-B1 Assign - cc 5 Effects-B2 Assign - cc 7 Effects-B3 Assign - cc 8 Effects-B4 Assign - cc 9 Video fader Assign - cc 10 Transition Assign - cc 11 Transformer-A Assign - cc 12 Transformer-B Assign - cc 13 BPMSync Assign - cc 14 Transition Time Assign - cc 15 Output Fade Assign - cc 16 Transition Time doesn’t do anything outside PRESENTATION mode, which I didn’t use. You can try to use V4 in this mode, but please, don’t ask me to support this. It seems to be easy mode for simple presentations, and this software is for something completely different. PHYSICAL CONNECTIONS MIDI OUT from your computer should be connected to MIDI IN of V-4 (you can use MIDI out from USB keyboardfader box - read below). MIDI OUT from your controllerkeyboard should be connected to MIDI IN of your computer. Controllerkeyboard is not necessary for this software to run. You can use all the randomisingpreseting functions and control V-4 remotely. USB keyboardscontrollers obviously connect to computer via USB. If you don’t have additional MIDI interface connected to your computer, you should use MIDI out of your keyboard controller (some controllers require you to enable “MIDI out from USB” function, so that MIDI coming from the computer via USB goes to the controllers MIDI out port - if you don’t do this, MIDI from the computer will not pass to V-4). Please note that certain brands of USB MIDI controllers (like my Evolution MK 225C) don’t allow you to simultaneously output MIDI from the computer and knob moves or keyboard presses that you perform live to MIDI out port. Live MIDI events still go to the computer (via USB connection), go through software, and then out to V-4. MIDI CONTROLLER CONFIGURATION NOTE MIDI controller should transmit all the continuous controller messages on MIDI channel 1. This setting can not be changed in software. MIDI CONNECTIONS TROUBLESHOOTING HINT V-4 has few diagnostic modes. They are enbled when specific keys are pressed on power up. To find out the keypresses, press TAP when you power up V-4. The list of keypresses appears on preview screen. I wouldn’t suggest you to mess with the SET MODE and MIDI UPDATE. Some of the settings obviously alter the way this mixer works. I have no idea what these settings do. If you ask me, don’t touch these two menus! However, other functions can be very helpfull. One of them is TEST MODE (MENU + ENTER keys). When you start it, menu with different test appears on the screen. One of them is MIDI-InOut. With this test, you can see raw MIDI messages as they come into V-4. They do not make much sense (just numbers), but you can confirm that MIDI is coming to V-4 if you are not shure if you made proper connections.
