Small projector advice?

Hello!

For one of my university projects I decided to venture into vvvv and projection mapping, so basically I need a projector. I will be projecting an animation piece with a lot of detail in a dark room on a pile of boxes(2x2x1 metres). Needless to say I need something with high resolution, but what lumens? Also, my budget is a bit tight and I need a moderately cheap option…

Any brand/model recommendations?

Thanks.

I’ve been super curious about this projector as well. Can you give any more details on it? How is it working out for you for vvvv projections? Would love to have something more portable and sturdy than a standard DLP.

This is the one I was looking at:

he has the advantage of LED lamp that lasts up to 20,000 hours … I work with have installed home theater for my client and they demonstrate satisfaction … in this specific line of projectors open too closely …

tip on stacking

that stacking identical projectors does not exactly double the image brightness at the screen, because light from the projectors and from ambient sources refracts as the beams intersect.

Since this tread is a couple of years old I’m looking for an update on newer projectors.

Can anyone please recommend a projector to use for mapping on architectural models? Probably a model no larger than 1 meter (3ft) cubed. I may place the projector(s) inside of the model so I hope to find something small with sufficient lumens and resolution for crisp mapping under high ambient light.

I’m new to mapping, and being a student, professional series projectors are cost-prohibitive.

Thanks

I’m buying a projector also and here are my options:
Panasonic PLC-XU106, 4500 lm 1024 x 768 px. (small)
Panasonic PT-WV430U, 4300 lm, 1280 x 800 px. (average).
Nec NP-P420X, 4200 lm, 1024 x 768 px. (average).
Epson PowerLite 1945W, 4200 lm, 1280 x 800 px. (smaller).

I have experience with Nec and with some maintenance they are resistant.
Yesterday i saw the Epson PowerLite working as the source image of a 1 m kaleidoscope and it looked good.

If you are projecting from the inside of a 1m model on a 1m surface you need at least a 1:1 lens to have enough throw to have focus. There are some short throw projectors for this. I recommend the Nec NP610S that is 0.74:1.
