Shutdown in a Bang and Rescan Externals

2 Small Q’s to make Rico’s a better place…

Oke, when I use the shutdown node, should it bang, or should the IObox give a 1 permanent? (not want to reboot 1000x to find out what is the best)

And is there a node (or way) to rescan for perhapials inside a patch? Sometimes my USB -> MIDI device gets screwed (because THEY press the wrong button).

Was thinking about a Shell Exe, but not sure how to use that…

Hope some one can help me…

Okay, figured that Shutdown and Force are best options to shut the putter down.

Now a nice way for rescanning…

halo west. there is no way to rescan for peripherals. videoinputs are updated automatically after you insterted them…i didn’t yet implement this for other devices.

a rescan via shellexecute won’t help since vvvv does only update midi-devices on startup.

Thnx for the reply, this means I need to train the end user… first check if MIDI device is on before you starup the computer… think I can manage that ;)

what about a global power button and vvvv on startup of the machine ?

Already done that offcours, set the Fullscreen pin on 1 and just dragged the rot to the start -> startup folder. Power up starts vvvv in fullscreen on the touchscreen

It is just that the USB device (midisport8x8) gets it power from somewhere else, because is extended by a USB over ethernet device… was also thinking about geing a different USB > MIDI thing, one without any buttons…
