Dscaler Node

Hi all

I have been using blackmagic design’s intensity HD cards to handle PAL video streams and although they are supposed to deinterlace the signal they do not seem to do that at all.
The wait for frame option is not applicable ,as well, because it introduces a fare amount of delay.
I am thinking of using the Descaler node but i cannot find any instructions about installing the filter (the .ax file that is provided) and i would like to avoid installing the full descaler4115.exe cause in the readme file it mentions some serious instability issues.
Has anyone used the module - filters and with what degree of success?
One more thing: In the rightmost pin of the DScaler node, a file is required, where is that file supposed to be ;does it mean the descaler.exe or the .ax file of the filter?

helo pano,

  • although they are supposed to deinterlace the signal
wow, i’d doubt that at first. do you have any specs handy where they state this. would be really nice to try if they really do this.

concerning DScaler:
just put the DScaler.ax into vvvvs \bin directory. on startup vvvv registers all directshowfilters (.ax) found in this directory. then it should already work. if i remember correctly it only works with real pal-solutions of 768x576.

the filename you can provide is optional and is one of the .dlls coming with dscaler. i’ve not looked into these i think they offer advanced different descaling techniques and even other effects. i found no documentation on those though…

anyway i think it is not perfect.
