Camera for tracking / fiducials

hi,

has anyone here a recommendation for a camera suitable for a reactable-like setup, i.e. a table with a glass surface, and tracking of 4.5cm² big fiducial prints using an infra-red light source and camera filter? the table is 70x100cm and should be able to track objects on (ideally) the whole glass surface. the objects are used to trigger interface elements on the table.

this should be a very common setup I think?!

thanks very much in advance for any advice what hardware to buy,
milan

I haven’t made an exact setup like that, but if you can afford it the point grey research dragonfly2 is a pretty amazing camera:

Definitely worth considering.

hi,

thanks for the recommendation, but I think I will have to use something cheaper. Do you think a standard camcorder with 800K pixels resolution would be sufficient? Otherwise I would have to reduce the table size to make it work…

I use a unibrain camera with wide-angle lens with no IR filter.

It’s best-in-class for it’s prince IMO.

sorry, *price

msi starcam is my cheap choice.
its a lot better in infrared than myself :)

i believe there was another thread about this issue before. try to do the tiki search…
