Does the Kodicom 4400R work with vvvv

Kodicom 4400R KMC4400R

  • 16x inputs
  • 120fps 768x576
  • four bt878a controllers

Does anyone have experience with this card and vvvv?
Could this work for capturing four devices at 25fps simultaniusly?

Thanks in advance…

No but I have a spectra8 which is similar in specs, ie 120fps 4ins + 4 on an another card BT878 that supposedly show up as switchable inputs (but dont at the moment…) And although it should do 4 PAL streams, I’ve tended to use 4x half pal, as I got dropped frames with full pal (or 720x288 for deinterlaced capture)

Do you have any ideas why your card isn’t capturing full PAL without dropping frames?
Is it the card, your system, your configuration or vvvv?
I ordered the card so we’ll see what happends with this card…

Cant’ say for sure, but its not the fastest pc I own, just the only one with a pci slot! Its a 3000+ Amd (so 2ghz single core)
Let us know how you get on with the kodicom card, I’ve not come across them before
Blimey there cheap too, definatley let us know if they work!

An update about the Kodicom 4400R.

The supplied drivers don’t work with vvvv.
So i tried the btwincap drivers… the card was not recognized.
I installed the generic bt878a divers of btwincap.
This time vvvv recognised four capturecards. Looking good!
When i try the cards (with video-in or the test util that comes with btwincap) i only get a blue screen. :-(
Because the 4400R is an 16 input with 4 bt878 chips they put a matrix switch in between.
Known as the CD22M3494MQ chip.
Unfortunately i have no idea how to talk to this chip, and btwincap doesn’t support it.
That’s why I pulled the datasheet of the matrix chip and manualy shorted the first 4 inputs with the first 4 outputs.
(yep, the by soldering)
I put the card back in and voila: 4 inputs working simultaneously! :-)
For now this is enough for me… maybe somebody can help me setting the matrix chip with vvvv.
This weekend i’m going to test the card more.
For now i only have one source so i can’t tell you about dropping frames.

Conclusion so far: it works!
(with a small hardware adjustment)

(yep, the by soldering)

LOL, I like it!
I’ve tried Btwincap on the spectra8 but it one sees one input then, (not tried recently though…)
The matrix part of the spectra8 used to show up as input selectors in the inspector, but doent seem to show them anymore, i dont know why!
Thanks for posting info though, let us know more when you’ve doen some tests!

Peter444 can you post a pic of what you shorted? I’m considering buying this card because I can get it cheap!

thanks

Sory for the late response!
I’ve been very busy lately so my vvvv projects had to wait for a while… :-(

I searched for the datasheet but I seen to have misplaced it.
The card is used in a show which is on tour at the moment so I can’t make a picture of the card aswell…

But.
It realy is just a matter of shorten the inputs and outputs of the matrix chip, which is at the upper-left of the card.
When I googled this chip I imediately got the datasheet…

I expect my rig back home by the end of april.
I’ll post some pics then.

Really interesting solution. Does it support 25 FPS on 4 realtime inputs?

For as far as I know it’s not possible to capture four channels full pal on a singel pci port at all.
At least not on a videum 4400VO or a kodicom 4400R

But three channels full pal are no problem.
