DVI/VGA Capture Card

Hello,
does anybody know 'bout a solution for cupturing a DVI or VGA Signal?
And do you think its possible to split the picture and getting 5-6 Pal Signals from this signal by a vvvv machine in realtime?
Or is this a bit too heavy for a… lets say 2GHZ, 1GB Ram PC with some VGA Cards?
Thanks!
Olli.
PS: have a look at the attachement for understanding my application :)

i think you’ll need some of these vga2usb toys.

i don’t know… vga over usb? enough bandwidth? also, this would make me nervous:
“Frame rate varies depending on content”
what about a blackmagic intensity card, or the upcoming matrox mxo2? http://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/mxo2_mini/

I have a datapath rgb capture card and it works. cpu is low.
you take three graphics cards in span mode so 6 outputs.

hum… and why not trying to send it thuth ethernet cables ?
i mean an image in 640x480 is easely sendable thruth udp and vvv ???

has anybody tried this yet?

i just try this …but for a video stream the limit
for me is around 320X240 @ 25fps
for still images it should be ok

nice patch circuitb !
what i dont understand is its limitation … i ve a show where i m sending with kramer hardware (receiver/transmitter) a HD filestream on 2 RJ45… i would suppose that a stream would be possible , more than this definition of 200x200 …

hey ollipatcher,

i did a similar thing some time ago. 4pcs with a output of 960x600 each were connected to a hetec v-switch quad. the v-switch outputs a signal of 1920x1200, displaying the inputs in a quad view. afterwards i captured the output of the v-switch with a unigraf ufg05 (max input 1920x1200). that’s it. bad thing about this setup is, that the hetec and the unigraf sum up to over 5000€.

in my project i mapped the 4 quarters on the sides of a cube and made a small touchscreencontrol for it. works like gestures… kind of…

greets, jens.
