Updated CEF Version in Alpha vs. Beta VVVV

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the HTMLRenderer. In the beta release of VVVV I ran into several problems with the included Chromium Embedded version.

(Particularily regarding opacity of video elements, web fonts and scrolling). Google searches regarding this specific chrome version also suggest this particular version to be a known buggy release.

All my problems went away when trying the VVVV Beta release, and it’s included newer CEF release.

What would You advise to procceed? – I suppose using the Alpha version is a bad idea overall?

When do You think we can expect an updated CEF release in the stock version of VVVV?

Thank You so much in advance,
Andre :)

–> should read “when trying the VVVV Alpha release”. sorry for the noise

Which alpha / beta did you try exactly?

So the splash screens say:
45beta34.2

and

50alpha34.102

does that help?

The latest beta uses CEF 3.1750.1738 while the current alpha uses CEF 3.2171.2039
We’ve also an open request to update to CEF 3.2454.1344

The exact release date of a new beta is not set yet but it’ll take at least a few months. So I guess you’ll have to use the alpha version for now. Major difference between beta and alpha builds is that the exception dialog is by default enabled in alpha. You can disable this by calling vvvv.exe with “/showexceptions false” - see https://vvvv.org/documentation/commandline-parameters
To be on the safe side try to use an alpha which was released close before the beta34.2 - I’ve picked you a x86 and x64 version which should be very close to how beta34.2 was released.
