RemoterSA Osc&Simulator

Hello

I am using RemoterSA and everything works well but I have doubts in 2 sections the OSC and the Simulator parts.

-OSC-
When activating the OSC i see it sends a string out like :

  • bundle,timeliner/IP Online,fff?€?€,timeliner/App Online,fff

or similar with 3 number after IP Online .

how can i decode that in the RemoterSA the address set is /timeliner but if i place that as argument in a OSCDecoder as argument it does not decode althouhg the udp is getting the string. More important how can i decide or know what RemoterSA is sending out what sort of data and info ?

and what about the receiving to RemoterSA via the port 5555 how do i know i,m getting any signal and how to set it to somthing usuful ?

maybe i,m not getting the right use of it please clarify.

-Simulator-

As far as i understood you can send command strings via the simulator pure UDP or TCP . you set and ip port press connect and a string and press + then each time you left click you send this command string right ?

in the simulator using udp nothing happen tried various things with right ips and ports .

when i press connect should the botton change to connected or something like that ?

when using tcp it throws and error when i press connect :

-other- question when i send commands like open an app close an app etc it works but takes like 20 seconds or so to run it , is this normal or there is somewhere i can tweak to reduce that time ?

by the way i,m using windows 7 ultimate

thanks in adavance

hei color,

regarding OSC:
in OSCDecoder enter as the address:
/timeliner/IP Online
or
/timeliner/App Online

to receive the online-status of all IPs/Apps as a spread. seems you have 3 IPs/Apps in your example since you’re receiving 3 values for each message. the data it sends here is really just the state 0 or 1 if an IP or App is online. from there you cannot find out which IP/App, it is just in the order you see thme in the RemoterSA gui.

sending data to RemoterSA via OSC most likely won’t work. i haven’t tried that and it was never designed to work like this. so the whole OSC thing in Hoster is not so useful with Remoter.

regarding Simulator:
you got it right. and ja, seems UDP is broken. TCP works for me. anyway i’d suggest if you need such a functionality you can easily patch it yourself rather than using it from RemoterSA.

regarding slow response:
i’ve seen this myself but don’t know where it comes from. i’d suspect the underlaying PSTools to cause this. maybe you find something about that problem in their forums…

Hola joreg,

thank you for clarifying and quick response.

bests

regarding slow response from pstools (RemoterSA):
turned off firewall on remote machine -> super fast again
