New Kid

Hi there,

i am the new kid on the block, my first post here - so hello to everyone and especially the creators of vvvv. I am really impressed so far and have to admit this is quite addictive.

I come from a 3d background, so i know about coordinate systems, transforms and nodes - but there are things i don’t understand yet in vvvv, and i hope to get help from some powerusers out there. Please excuse if some questions might seem stupid for you.

  • How can i set the texture sampling used on XFiles? I am aware of the Filter node, but there only seems to be a pin on Quads, but not on XFiles.

  • I would like to transform a rendered output from a planar to a spherical projection. What would be more effective, to use the Polar node via CPU as in the girlpower-example, or to render a reflection on a sphere via a shader on the graphicscard?

  • FX Shaders are a really cool thing, but i don’t know any about that. What would be the book you would recommend for a complete beginner with some good tutorials? I tried to get some examples from Rendermonkey to vvvv, but no success yet.

Cheers,
Aksel

Rem: This description is not really great i see - to clarify what i would like to do is realtime reflections of 3d scene objects on a reflective 3d object. Without a premade cubemap. Is that possible at all? Is there a way of creating a cubemap ‘live’ with 6 cameras looked from the object or so? How could i assemble them and bring them on the reflective object?

Thanks, Aksel.
