i am using vvvv to generate pictures. its hard to distinguish the patches through their filenames. i would prefer storing a “poster frame” into the miniature preview of the patch, to remember what the output of the patch was. i suggest ctrl+4 for “snapshot to icon” … maybe its a stupid idea … just trying to organize my patches and i have to open every single one to remeber what it did …
sounds not so stupid, but i wouldn’t know how to do it. icons under windows are associated by filetype, not by file. and i think only binary files (like .exe) can have their own icons included.
how about saving a .jpg with the same name as your patches for every patch. when sorting by name you’d have an image at least next to each patch.
maybe something like the thumbnail preview of a scene you get for 3dsmax files in windows explorer
