am i need old surface or the new one?

u7angel 14/04/2011 - 15:16

the old one!
i just realized there is some camera to texture test inside. you can just delete this to gain performance. ill upload a clean version later.

bo27 14/04/2011 - 18:46

jens.a.e 03/05/2011 - 18:07

u7angel 03/05/2011 - 23:52

you finally managed to get a username, jens ? :)

Micheli 01/06/2011 - 15:00

hi, where i have to put all these unziped files? thanks for help in advance.

u7angel 02/06/2011 - 10:06

zip files ?

check the file below downloads, there is a bin folder inside with plugin and helpfile. thats it, like any other vvvv plugin.

Micheli 03/06/2011 - 13:02

This I have already done. I put the SurfaceInput.dll in the vvvv/bin or in the plugins.
When I open the helpfile there is only: Two Vector, Transform, Quad and Renderer Nodes. Should there not be a SurfaceInput. If I search for such a Node there isn't one in the list.

I use the vvvv40beta22, a version from this time of Surface 1.0 and which uses SlimDX9.
Thanks for help!

mrboni 04/06/2011 - 19:11

Try with a later version of vvvv if you can

Micheli 06/06/2011 - 14:05

Still not work with vvvv40beta22 or 23, SlimDX9 and Vista SP2 and the SurfaceSDK 1.0 on the MS-Surface1.0 :( The SurfaceSDK works fine.
Do I have to run anything else with vvvv?

I work in the Admin Mode of Surface, not in the User Mode.

Should there not be a SurfaceInput-Node?? If I search for such a Node there isn't one in the list!!

Thanks for help!

u7angel 07/06/2011 - 12:24

yes there should be a plugin in the patch. why do you use outdated v4 versions ? i just started the help patch inside the bin folder and even on my laptop is a surfaceInput node....without having the SDK installed.

Micheli 08/06/2011 - 15:01

You right, with vvvv45beta25.1 it works fine. But now I couldn’t use the old plugins ☹ They are not working in vvvv45, so I have to program everything new. Thanks for help.

u7angel 08/06/2011 - 15:54

very good :)
which plugins aren't working in 25.1 ?

one idea, you could run two v4 versions at the same time and send the SurfaceInput data via OSC (localhost) from one instance to another. not very elegant though.

Micheli 22/06/2011 - 16:28

thanks for that tip. I solve it in 25.1 – all plugins I moved in a right way are working now. genius surface plugin!

Urbankind 19/11/2012 - 11:35

SDK installation link is not working.....

metrowave 19/09/2013 - 13:02

The MS Surface 2.0 SDK is here:

Alec 19/09/2013 - 18:01

Guys, does it work with MS Surface Pro tablet to read touch events?

alg 21/09/2013 - 20:05

@Alec for tablet just use DX11 Render, it can output touch position xy.

everyoneishappy: @overtones this would require 4D noise, which is possible but not implemented in Fieldtrip

overtones: Hi! SF2D has Time & DomainOffset inputs, but SF3D only DomainOffset. Is there a way to use Time in SF3D or it makes no sense? Thx

joreg: @SabrinaVerhage this could be useful for you next "hacking sex" workshop: https://buttplug.io they have a .NET nuget for use in vvvv!
