I use the RGBA (EX. Texture Join)fx, unc node to create my Data Texture.

R: is a DX9 texture with a b/w-gradient from left to right
G: is a DX9 texture with a b/w-gradient from top to bottom
B: is an picture (blurred flowwers in this case) converted to b/w
A: is a grey Texture (the b/w picture would be a good input too)
