Where Brüll & Kraus, Wipperstrasse 13, 12055, Berlin, Germany

helo evvvveryone,

the all new vvvv gamma is finally getting into a shape where it can be your loyal compagnon in many ways. Therefore, in addition to our free introductory workshops, we're also offering the following series of workshops to get you going proper:

Getting started with Computer Vision

With easy access to the computer vision library (OpenCV) and depth cameras (Kinect, RealSense,...), vvvv is a loyal companion for prototyping your computer vision applications and installations. With its no-code user-interface it allows you to quickly achieve your goals with just a few mouseclicks. Applying video filters, detecting motion and even using latest machine-learning powered techniques like YOLO, to label things in a video stream, becomes accessible to everyone.

Who is it for?
This workshop is for creative coders, professionals, students, designers and scientists, who want to learn a new way to analyze and sense realtime video images and get to know computer vision techniques.

You will learn how to:

  • Work with the visual programming environment vvvv (gamma)
  • Use the powerful computervision library OpenCV in vvvv
  • Use different cameras as input devices
  • Apply filters to video or still images
  • Detect motion in images
  • Do background subtraction for tracking
  • Detect things in images with YOLO

Getting started with Generative Design Alogrithms

Compose your own generative graphics without writing a single line of code and let your computer do what it is good at: randomness and repetition. After you set up your data flow program with the visual programming environment vvvv, lean back and see how your visuals grow in real time. Export these 2D generative graphics as vector files.

Who is it for?
This workshop is for creative coders, students, media artists and designers, who are interested in using computational techniques in their own practice.

You will learn how to:

  • Work with the visual programming environment vvvv (gamma)
  • Apply the principles of condition, repetition and randomness
  • Generate patterns mimicing nature
  • Create 2d graphics and animations
  • Export graphics to .svg and .pdf
Date: 23. August 2019
Time: 10am to 5pm
Hosts: joreg (vvvv group co-founder and developer), David Brüll (Studio David Brüll and NODE Director)
Tickets for Getting started with Generative Design Alogrithms

Getting started with Physical Computing

Reading data from sensors to control lights and motors connected to a computer via an Arduino, is a breeze if you know how to. The same is true for working with data transfer protocols like OSC, MIDI, MQTT and DMX/ArtNet. Learn all this without the need to write any code, by using the visual programming environment vvvv.

Hellow Patchers

Here are some good news:

We got a new space in Davids and Stefans new office in Berlin that gives us finally the chance to plan our program more ahead. The best thing: the space is not only our office space, it is also particulary designed to host workshops and meetups. We will start a workshop and meetup series this summer in a more or less formless way. About the vvvv program you will be informed here and via different social media channels. We do not have an official website for the new space yet (working on it -> you will not miss it for sure), but you can be informed on other meetups groups, FB and the NODE channels.

July 23rd 2019. Meetup time is 20h!

This is the Meetup for vvvv interested open minds based in Berlin or visiting us in Berlin. Its a meeting point for creatives and visual developers, interactive media, digital art, technology and design enthusiast. We are open to anyone who wants to join, no matter if you are a vvvv expert or beginner, a famous or breadless artists, a designhead or technologist, a piano player or techno musician. We are especially open for newcomers and curious beginners and we try to make this meetup as diverse as possible but with a focus on vvvv and VL.

New to vvvv? Get an introduction workshop

Each meetup is preceded by a 2 hour free introduction to vvvv for everybody who is curious about the software and the creative possibilities that come along with it. After some food we go over to the meetup with presentations. See separate blogpost!

Do I need to know vvvv or vl to join this meetup?

No, absolutely not. The presentations will be about projects, patches, plugins, contributions, or simple add ons made with or for vvvv, but you do not need to know it to enjoy the meetup.

What is going on at this meetup?

You come, grab a drink and listen. You grab the next drink and talk. We have one or two announced presentations followed by one or two spontaneous presentations by anyone who brought something to show... We have space and time for spontaneous discussions and presentations! The focus should be in the processes, the decisions and the mistakes that occur during the development of an idea. Submissions are welcome. Please drop us a line.

Here we go again. This comes late but better late than never.

Next tuesday we meet again at the lovely retune studios in Berlin and hang out together.

This time we'll have a live performance by longterm vvvv user and visual artist crew kopffarben. They have been long on tour in many cities. Now its time to say hello to the vvvv community and we'll have a look behind the patches.

After a long time of silence, there will also be a glimpse into the future by the devvvvs with short work-in-progress demos of things from the VL roadmap. Namely the state of executable export and tooltips re-imagined.

Still as always, feel free to bring your project/notebook/questions or whatever you want to share with the community. We have space and time for spontaneous discussions and presentations!

When Wed, Aug 14th 2019 - 10:00 until Sun, Aug 18th 2019 - 10:00
Where Lodge Sisoretne, Dolne Oresany, Slovakia

Hi everybody!
Since I missed meeting the best community this summer, I decided to organize Link summer camp in Slovakia!

Application form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1msDePnoVfAl9gCTMcZvBLj60c57-vGEv-Va9npP4pb0/

I found great place for the camp, 1 hour of public transport from Bratislava.
https://www.facebook.com/sisoretne/

The summercamp is not like an academy or workshop. You are not coming to learn. Here you are coming to share and spend quality time together while bringing forward your developments and ideas for future developments.
Wednesday is arrival day, and Thursday morning we are starting to work on our projects, so you need to be ready by then!
Capacity for guests is 25 people, so some of you unfortunately might not get in.

There will be DIY breakfast table ready for you every day, lunch and dinner cooked so you can patch away.

There will be also night program involving projectors and speakers! You will have opportunity to show off your live patching skills.

Also if you cannot attend for the whole time, join us on the public Saturday.

In a nutshell:

40km from Bratislava
180€ with all food and drinks inclusive
Everybody gets a bed!

Application form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1msDePnoVfAl9gCTMcZvBLj60c57-vGEv-Va9npP4pb0/
