Shiny generative graphics with vvvv and VL.Stride

Another one:

This workshop is for generative artists who start to explore the power of vvvv gamma’s 3D Engine (VL.Stride).

The online Workshop will guide you through the process of creating the title image used for the release of vvvv gamma 2021.3 as seen here.

In the course of 3 hours we’ll create this generative image step-by-step without cutting any corners. Every single topic and technique involved will be covered, only as much as needed. To be honest, we’ll just scratch the surface of what’s possible, but this will give you a good head start into the amazing construction kit that vvvv is.

Shiny generative graphics with vvvv and VL.Stride

You will learn how to:

  • Create a generative 3d structure
  • Render the scene efficiently by using instancing
  • Define and assign materials to the instanced objects
  • Deal with performance issues while rendering the 4k image
  • Split up the patch into separate parts to avoid a mess and enhance performance, even when you are "just" prototyping.

Requirements:

Recording:

  • This workshop will be recorded. In case you cannot make it on the date of the event, you will have the possibility to purchase a separate access to the recording afterwards.
  • By buying a ticket for this live workshop you agree that your image, voice and screenshare are part of the recording and thus will be available for everyone afterwards.

Hurray. Another one:

This workshop is for interaction designers who work with vvvv. The online workshop by vvvvamous sebescudie will introduce you to tools enabling you to leverage machine learning capabilities in your own vvvv patches.

As the name of the webinar suggests, we’ll talk about machine learning through the prism of interactive installations. We won’t go into much details inside the math behind it. This is actually the whole point of this webinar: there are some tools out there that can help us leverage the capabilities of machine learning without having to know too much about what’s under the hood.

Through a series of practical examples (and a tiny bit of theory!), we’ll try to understand what machine learning is, and how using it can help us in our everyday patching life, and allow us to do things that would be very tedious to do without it.

You will learn how to:

  • What are machine learning and deep learning
  • Use RunwayML trained model in your vvvv patches
  • Talk to the Wekinator
  • Train your own models with Microsoft Lobe

Where The NODE Institute, Germany

When it comes to timelines and tools to create data narratives vvvv never offered many options. Kairos is not only a tool to finally address this need. It also introduces a vast range of possibilities for managing live data and controlling your applications.
Starting from the comprehension of the very essence of kairos principles, we’ll then familiarize with the library node set and patch together some use case scenarios.

Soon it will be obvious that Kairos is not only a solution for common known problems, but truly a new land to be explored, where to shape new methodologies and creative paths.

You are learning directly from Instructor Natan Sinigaglia (aka dottore), who is the developer behind VL.Kairos and other vvvv libraries such as the UI library VL.Elementa .

New date!!

Unfortunately we have to postpone the workshop due to important improvements in the Kairos development and also private scheduling difficulties. The new date is March 30, 2020 from 13:30 - 18:00

When Mon, Dec 14th 2020 - 21:00 until Mon, Dec 14th 2020 - 22:00
Where Online, hosted by the NODE Institute, Germany

Hello vvvvorld!

We (Natan Sinigaglia / dottore | Kyle McLean / everyoneishappy) would like to give you a heads up on a project we are undertaking in these times that we would hope should be of some inspiration and enthusiasm for the beloved VVVV community!

The FUSE project will provide a well researched collection of GPU tools and libraries to use with VL.Stride :

  • Domain specific high level node collections
 ○ Distance Fields & Raymarching
 ○ Particles
 ○ Procedural Geometry
 ○ Textures and Materials
 ○ GPGPU
  • A domain agnostic set of nodes and helpers for patching GPU logic
  • A clean collection of abstract shader functions that can be easily referenced for coders

Intended to benefit the community and wider ecosystem :

  • Free and opensource
  • Well documented
  • Produced in collaboration with the VVVV group to iterate and improve on the core shader based workflows and approaches of VL.Stride.

We are presenting this project in greater detail on 14th Dec 2020 at 21:00 CET to studios and individuals who are interested in the graphical future of vvvv gamma.

Project Info: vvvv.org/fuse-project

The event is kindly hosted by the NODE Institute.https://thenodeinstitute.org/event/the-fuse-project/

Best regards,
Natan & Kyle

Here is our line-up so far:

wirmachenbunt

wirmachenbunt: Joscha Brüning, Thomas Gross, Nils Nahrwold, Christian Engler
Location: Hamburg
http://wirmachenbunt.de

wirmachenbunt is a studio for interactive and immersive shows and exhibits. The team will present the Magenta Moon Garden software, the system behind a 360° interactive space, incorporating 16 projectors, 9 Radartouch sensors, 6 channel surround sound, 4 games and lots of pixels. While the visual output is rendered with vvvv beta, they used VL and vvvv gamma heavily for the backend and surround sound engine, marking a transition of the studio workflow. While going into the patch details, they reveal the process, from simulation to the live setup.

Christian Riekoff

texone
Location: Schwerin
http://riekoff.com

Christian is a media artist based in Schwerin. Working on all kinds of kinetic, light and screen based installations, he will give a small peak into his recent project, which will be his first one realized in vl. Switching from Unity and his own custom framework creative computing he will give a view on the process leading into this decision and present some first steps into the vvvv world as a result of the transition.

Amir Bastan

baxtan
Location: Linz, Austria
http://baxtan.xyz http://creativerobotics.at

New media artist with a background in fine arts and philosophy, Amir realizes his works by designing narratives through real-time processes.
Amir is based in Linz/AT where he is persuing his PhD. He is a researcher at Creative Robotics Department at the university for arts and design in Linz he is also teaching Coding and computational thinking at the Fashion and Technology department in the mentioned university.
