Return the Eye is a project that combines installation, text, sound, and video, with a remote viewing system that telematically conjoins viewers. These works consider visibility, the elastic ontology of virtual images and the weaponization of optical technologies.

An online experience, Return the Eye collects user data generated by visitors, which then enact audio-visual transformations in real time. Simultaneously, three user-controlled cameras situated in the gallery operate as a portal to surveil installed objects referencing machine intelligence, ecology, and state violence.

As an extremely long-form composition, sonic parameters are shaped by user interaction with the website (clicks, click+drag, mouse location, what you're clicking on, phone movement). Our hope is that people synchronize their visits to the website with others, as the sonic output of this is something like a collaborative, networked synthesizer, where multiple people shape different parameters of the sound simultaneously.

Twitch, where the live video content is embedded from, is currently testing a feature that may interrupt the viewing experience. If this popup appears, click the volume icon in the bottom left, and you will be able to close it.

Consider

  • moving your mouse slowly to different parts of the screen, holding different click combinations, and listening for changes
  • opening multiple browser windows to increase your access to sonic parameters
  • changing your USER ID via the top right menu - this will change the sonic parameters you affect
  • clicking multiple times on different items on the works list/selected resources list
  • leaving the website on as background sounds. You can then modulate this by eg. using your phone's accelerometer remotely, manipulating the website itself as needed, or being surprised when others play with the site

The viewer can turn him/herself into a child, a dancer, and many other characters, that reveal surprising metamorphosis, becoming new material for improvisation and play with the others.

Schattenfänger02

The installation should be presented on September 2020 but there is a pandamic going on so premiere hopefully will be on summer 2021 and it will become part of the permanent collection at the museum.

The kinetic light installation “Nymphéas” is inspired by the lyrical images of ponds overgrown with water lilies by whose side poets and artists have spent countless hours in contemplation of clean, cold flowers.

The light sculpture hangs above the heads of the spectators is 8 meters high. The animated light moves in complete symbiosis with the music, which combines electronic sounds with classical instruments.

In four acts, the audience in the Dreikönigskirche follows the change of society through the digitalization of our lives.

The digital lifestyle is illuminated artistically. The story begins with the early days of the computer, a mechanical calculating machine. It tells of machines becoming faster and faster and more and more high-resolution, until they are finally more powerful than their designers and users in many areas. The border between the digital and analogue world becomes blurred.

Among other things, human dimensions of change, our permanent interaction with machines and their algorithmic filter worlds, emotional highs and lows, and the speed of life in the digital age are addressed.

Where will this journey take us?

Thanks to dottore for the runtime model editor and nsynk for the timeline tilda and the vvvv group and the amazing community.

We hold our breath in fear when inhaling and exhaling becomes dangerous. In today's world, we cannot breathe freely, we have limited the possibility of a normal life for the common good. Connected by the Internet, we can still communicate and see each other. The pandemic is a great trial and a lesson in coexistence. Now, more than ever ,we realize that everything and everyone is interconnected, interdependent and responsible for the entire planet.

Austrias tallest building has a new attraction!
The foyer houses a brand new interactive installation designed and programmed by Responsive Spaces. While a weather-proof camera on the very top of the building constantly captures the view of Vienna, a stunning LED wall in the foyer slices and combines thousands of those images in real time into a vibrant and ever-moving piece of art. Using position tracking, busy people rushing by, can take a minute to explore how their beloved city morphed overnight or thru the seasons.

This is a project of the master program digital healthcare of FH St. Pölten (Austria). This prototype simulates an x-ray tube, which is controlled by gestures. This is supposed to be an approach to reduce germ transmission as well as to increase ergonomics for radiographers. For the development, Leap Motion was used for hand tracking, VVVV for processing and Arduino for mechatronics.

The first solo exhibition by VOLNA, presenting a reconstruction of the art collective's major works from 2016 – present in a virtual space. The exhibition spaces and installations were created using video game development tools (Unreal Engine) that simulate real-time scenes and lighting effects. VVVV was used to reproduce the real-life behaviour of the installations (as they were mainly controlled via VVVV in the reality). Exhibition visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the surroundings of each installation and can move freely in the room and choose any observation point.

Time always concerned even gods, the perfect beings. Aphrodite (or Venus) is an ultimate symbol of beauty and youth that shall be destroyed in order to be preserved only as a memory.

video edit of the single IRINA from the debut LP of the same title by METAMAN.
Out now on vinyl by WON TON records!
Digital distribution Just Gazing records

METAMAn-IRINA

“Irina” was entirely made in vvvv (the multipurpose toolkit) in addition FieldTrip, InstanceNoodles (both contributions from Kyle McLean (aka everyoneishappy ) and some other custom tools, made in C# and HLSL, were used during the creation process.
The content itself is a result of an audioreactive experiment, where sound frequencies, a beat and some MIDI instructions contribute equally to the final result. Parameterization succeeds timelines and 3d -polished - graphics are being replaced by a thick grainy fog with a “raymarched” head which is constantly evolves and mutates proceduraly to noisy and abstract shapes.
The entire project is part of a purpose made and designed tool capable to support METAMAn on their live shows as a real-time content generator, therefore this version of the video is just one yield or a variation of a bigger abstract-visual dynamo.
