horray. just right in time for node08 a new release: 33beta15.
lots of stuff this time:

 • WavePlayer fixed+enhanced
 • kalle gets his node IDs
 • eno gets his SourceBuffer
 • 2008 style copypaste features for everyone
 • greatly improved boygrouping (debug your clients!)

ja, and a fix here and a new bug there, of course.

Read the log for changes

have we mentioned beta14.9? actually if all goes well with beta15 it shouldn't be of any interest. really only if beta15 feels strange in a way you may want to check against beta14.9 and report if you find any obvious differences that may help us debugging.

for now have a nice patch,
see you at node08,
your vvvv group.

hello vvvvisualizers,

do any of you work on datasets? here is a call for videos that just reached me:

vizNET 2008 encourages attendees to submit a short video clip for inclusion in one of the early presentation sessions. We are very keen for attendees to have the opportunity to fully participate during the event. Whilst some people may prefer to show off some of their work we also recognise that some attendees may be more interested in highlighting a problem they are trying to solve and which they would like to share with others. For instance you may have a particularly challenging data set with no immediately obvious means of teasing out important features of the underlying data set properties. By bringing examples of such challenges to vizNET 2008 it is highly likely that other people attending the vizNET event will be able to suggest possible ways of solving the problems.

Dear friends and vvvv users.

For a few years now, the nice community of our multipurpose toolkit has been growing and growing. Many of you have been in contact virtually, but never really met. This needs to change.

April 5 - 12, 2008: NODE08 – Forum For Digital Arts

WORKSHOPS
LECTURES
EXHIBITION
VVVVINISAGE

NODE08 is not profit-oriented. However, participation in the workshops and lectures requires a ticket: this helps to pay for costs and expenses of the lecturers, artists, rentals, gear, etc. Relating to the licensing scheme of vvvv, we trust our guests to choose the right ticket scheme.
Besides the Fan-Pass for non-commercial users, we'd especially like to advertise the Pro-Pass at EUR 444,— granting free access to all workshops, lectures and the grande finissage.

The Pro-Pass is meant to be the right ticket for those who think the NODE08 Visit is more commercial than personal. By buying the Pro-Pass you become an official Sponsor of NODE08. It also guarantees peace of mind in case the knowledge gained in attending the workshops, which are held by honorary workshop facilitators, is going to be applied incommercial projects.

We would like to thank you in advance for supporting NODE08 by buying the Pro-Pass. To be recognisable as a sponsor, the Pro-Pass badge will be colour-coded.

The available tickets are …
Full week Pro-Pass (all included) EUR 444
Full week Fan-Pass (all included) sold out
3Day-Pass (April 5 - 7) EUR 55
2Day-Pass (April 9 - 10) EUR 55
2Day-Pass (April 11 - 12) EUR 55
Lecture-Pass (April 8) EUR 33

For further information for the Ticket booking please visit booking.vvvv.org

helohelo,

as it came to our attention registration on our tikiwiki obviously didn't send registration mails to some users. we did some debugging and fixing on this and suggest that users who had this problem now try again.

if you still have problems please don't hesitate to use our guest/guest login and report your findings in our tiki forum

yours,
vvvvadmin

The main NODE08 exhibition hall in the Diakoniekirche also features a large projection screen. We kindly ask you to submit generative work or videos only, that are in accordance with the festivals topics. An informal jury will select the pieces for the screening.

The rules:
Videos should not exceed 12 minutes, maximum resolution is 1280×720 px, preferably encoded as Xvid avi. You may also send us a download link instead of physical storage media or autonomously running vvvv patches. Each feature will run for 12 min. If you decide to submit a patch, please download the development package here:http://node08.vvvv.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/node08cinemasdk.zip

Your patch will run inside this environment under beta 14, please make sure it’s compatible and dont forget to include all your media, models, shaders etc. and have them and your subpatches in one folder and as relative paths inside your patch plus a screenshot of how the output should look like (so we can see if everything works fine). Do test this before, because we won’t fix broken links inside your patch.

The deadline is March 16th 2008. Please send your submission to: node0atvvvv.org

MApEC08 is the international conference on multimedia applications in education and business, that will take place in Graz, Austria, from September 15 - 17, 2008.

their call for papers is still open and especially the topic Interfaces for Learning and Presenting may offer vvvv related participation...

well, it is that time of year again. happy birthday vvvv. you may not have counted, but she is 5 official years old today. horray. see the Change Log for what she's gone through lately and get her freshest bytes from the Downloads. may she loop on forever and we love you very much.

ah and oh, what is there on the horizon?
the vvvv group humbly presents: TimelinerSA - A Multipurpose Timeline
still very early in beta, it already sends its timed data via UDP\OSC to any software you may missuse. since timelining is a very general task not at all limited to use within vvvv we thought it makes sense to realize a timeline as a separate piece of software. TimelinerSA runs crossplatform and is soon be blessed with an opensource license, therefore being completely free for any kind of use. in a later version Timeliner will also be available as a native node for optimal usage within vvvv. still some debugging needed on this one though. and while the AlphaTesters already identified the most nasty bits (thanks you verymuch) still beware of the very freshness of the code.

lets dance!

merry whatever
and a veryveryveryvery new year,
wishes yours truly,
the vvvv group.

Club Transmediale.08 - Unpredictable
Festival for Adventurous Music and Related Visual Arts

Generator.x 2.0: Beyond the Screen
24 Jan - 2 Feb 2008, Ballhaus Naunynstrasse / DAM Berlin
Workshop / Exhibition / Performance

Leander Herzog: thePhysicalVertexBuffer

Generator.x in collaboration with Club Transmediale and DAM Berlin presents Generator.x 2.0: Beyond the screen, a workshop and exhibition about digital fabrication and generative systems.

Digital fabrication (also known as “fabbing”) represents the next step in the digital revolution. After years of virtualization, with machines and atoms being replaced by bits and software, we are coming full circle. Digital technologies like rapid prototyping, laser cutting and CNC milling now produce atoms from bits, eliminating many of the limitations of industrial production processes. Once prohibitively expensive, such technologies are becoming increasingly accessible, pointing to a future where mass customization and manufacturing-on-demand may be real alternatives to mass production.

For artists and designers working with generative systems, digital fabrication opens the door to a range of new expressions beyond the limits of virtual space. Parametric models apply computational strategies to the analysis and synthesis of space, producing structures and surfaces of great complexity. Through fabbing these forms may be rendered tangible, even tactile.

Call for participants

We are looking for 15 artists, designers and architects who have an existing practice based on generative systems and custom software, and who are interested in investigating physical formats through digital fabrication. The workshop will be practical in nature, and will produce a selection of works that will be included in the exhibition atDAM. Participants will have access to an on-site laser cutter, and an introduction to this technology will be part of the workshop.

The workshop is free of charge, but we will not be able to provide support for travel or accomodation. Participants are expected to have experience with programming software that will allow them to produce work suitable for production, such as Processing, VVVV or any other system capable of producing vector output. Previous experience with laser cutting or digital fabrication technologies is a bonus, but not a requirement.

Applications must be in PDF format and should including a CV and a short statement of intent, describing why you want to participate in the workshop and how fabbing relates to your existing practice. You should include a maximum of 5 images of relevant work, with a total file size of 2 megabytes. Feel free to provide links to web sites containing documentation such as videos or downloadable software, but please don’t send such content by email.

Please submit applications by email to generatorx -at- clubtransmediale.de. The deadline for application is December 21, 2007, accepted participants will be notified at the beginning of January 2008.
