We are the innovation and technology division at SYMA Asia, creating and developing interactive installations for commercial clients as well as museums, tourist sites, etc.

In the last 3 years we have made a name in China as the "go-to" team for high-profile projects requiring creativity, technology skills and top-level execution. We were the official technology partner for Coke and Adidas in the Beijing Olympics, among many other major brands. We also work closely with Chinese and foreign governments (we're quite busy now preparing projects for Shanghai 2010 World Expo).

We are looking for full-time designers/developers with strong interest and experience in researching new concepts and technologies in several fields (augmented reality, ubiquitous computing, computer vision), as well as designing and developing prototypes and commercial-grade interactive installations and solutions - either using the available tools (vvvv, Virtools, etc) and/or programming from scratch (C++, C#, Java, etc).

If you think your profile suits the description above and you're interested in joining us in China (and working all around Asia and Middle East), contact me at ricardo.andrade@syma.com.cn asap and let's talk.

Thanks
Ricardo Andrade

Easter is such a real shwopsy mopsy thing, if you know what we mean.

The new release comes with the following features:

  • pixel precise 2d rendering within 3d scenes
  • text and sprite rendering
  • billboards and onesided objects
  • a more versatile Multiscreen technique
  • spreadable ex9 primitives
  • more performant caching with known switches and S+H nodes
  • faster patches in hidden tabs
  • GUI enhancements for module writers (middleclick an iobox)
  • HID nodes for driver development
  • more possibilities for plugin developers (mesh and layer outputs, enums in and out)

And some more shwops and mops.

Get it at Downloads, be sure to have installed all the requirements listed under Additional Downloads and also don't forget the latest addonpack!
Go for it!
Yours devvvvs, groups

In the spirit of releasing early this is to announce a little tool called: RemoterSA

It is supposed to help us remoting large number of clients in boygrouping scenarios but is not at all limited to the use in connection with vvvv. RemoterSA will soon be available as opensource under the LGPL and also run as a plugin-node within vvvv.

Please test heavily and report your findings here.

Where City Hall, Hong Kong, China

The Modified Toy Orchestra will be debuting our new album on the 13th and 14th of March at City Hall in Hong Kong.
Plastic Planet a concept album discussing the throw away nature of society and the ecological harm done by all of us, made using thrown away electronic toy, most of which originate from China, we are taking them home once again!
Visuals are done in vvvv (of course!) although there is a mix of generative and stop motion animation, as some of you may have seen at node! I'll also be mixing camera feeds in vvvv for this show too. Pictures hopefully will follow, if I can fit my cameras in my bag after everything else I'm trying to take!
If you can make it drop me a pm, it would be nice to talk!

Where Landesmuseum Joanneum, Neutorgasse 41, Graz, Austria

we used vvvv to create an interactive installation for the "von hier nach dort" exhibition (ten years department of informations - university of applied sciences) in the landesmuseum in graz/austria.

our patch uses cameratracking for starting the game and counting the score (contour), youtube upload via commandline (unfortunately we disabled this feature because of legal reasons in the final version), replay at the end of each round and loads of funny dance movies..

the task is to perform shown dances.
startscreen video can be seen here: vimeo-link
pics and videos will (hopefully) be include later..

the exhibition is opened til 8th february - free entry

so if someone is in graz feel free to check it out

further informations about the exhibition can be found here
