Dans vvvv, le flux de données du pipeline de rendu 3D ressemble à ce qui suit:

Vvvv passe plusieurs données à la carte graphique:

  • Mesh
  • Texture
  • Variables définies par l'utilisateur
  • Render States
  • Matrices de transformation

Tout d'abord le programme vertexshader est appliqué à chaque vertex. Sa principale tâche est de projeter la géométrie sur l'écran. La sortie contient la position de vertex sur l'écran pour le pixelliseur et d'autres données pour le pixelshader.

Entre le vertexshader et le pixelshader s'opère la conversion entre graphique vectorielle et graphique pixellisé. Ceci est fait par le pixelliseur qui calcule quel pixel de l'écran appartient à la géométrie. Il interpole également les données pour chaque pixel situé entre les vertex.

Puis le programme pixelshader est exécuté pour chaque pixel visible, comme défini dans le pixelliseur. Il calcule la couleur finale du pixel.
