.v4r extension proposal

Hi devvvvs,

I was thinking about a .v4r extension, that is, yes an extension to indicate that that file is a vvvv root.

It could also have a fancy circle grey icon (instad of the square one) so people can understand visually that it is a vvvv root patch.

This distinction between normal patches and roots could have some benefits maybe, what do you think about it?

If you think it is a good idea, please tell me if there some way I can contribute to code it. I did not found a place in the vvvv-sdk where it is defined the regedit entry definition (maybe cause I’m too lazy :)

we’ve had this discussion some time ago and came to the conclusion that it would just add confusion and patch-burocracy.

the idea is that there is not really such a thing as a root-patch per se. a patch can be opened as the topmost patch. then we call it the root-patch. but the same patch can also be opened as a subpatch. so the patch itself does not know about its position in the hierarchy.

what we do is name root patches of a project with a prefixed _, like
_MyProject.v4p
like this the file is on top in explorer and we know to open that.
